Well Hello Stranger

I have gotten out of the habit of blogging.  I could say I had some great excuses. Listed below:
Finishing 4 graduate school courses.
Completing Wildflower Olympic Distance Triathlon for the third time. Man was it a tough course!
Bringing in new year! Here's to 2014.
Spent more time with my family and friends.
Visited Disney California Adventure park.

In general I would say I am striving to appreciate what I have and think about where else I would like to go. Depending on time I might try to fill in some of the great adventures I have had along the way.

Life is a fantastic ride.

Happy Halloween?

Well this year I did not get to carve a pumpkin. I was actually thinking about all the uses for pumpkins and who the heck thought of carving one? Why not carve a pineapple or watermelon?

Personally, I really like pumpkin pie.
I have never understood why it is part of Thanksgiving instead of Halloween.

Last but not least I was thinking about the millions of dollars of candy we share with kids buy 'on-sale' and just generally provide ourselves with sugar overload.
What wold happen if instead of all the trick-or-treaters getting candy we got them fruits and vegetables? Or maybe a company like Jamba Juice could just put on a mass promotion for the best costume. I guess for me when I was a kid it was always about the costume.

This post is in part brought to you buy the fact I am trying to decrease my sugar intake. It turns out we were never meant to each quite so much sugar. Part of the reason we crave it is because it is a fast energy source. Enough to help us charge and find a bigger food source.

I guess one note to self - is do not try to start being sugar free right near Halloween.

Happy Haunts to all. May you find something more than sugar sweets to enjoy!

Merry Christmas

I had a very Merry Christmas.
After the past year I feel so lucky that I get to spend the day with my family. I realize not everyone has the opportunity or even likes spending time with their family. We also have a tradition of making home made egg rolls for Christmas dinner. I leave you with a picture of our tree and wonderful dinner.

To anyone reading out there no matter what holiday you celebrate I hope you were able to enjoy it!
